Kaiser: Florida readies its own health insurance exchange, leaves out help for low-income people

The state of Florida is currently preparing its own health insurance exchange program in place of the exchanges created by the federal health care reform law, but according to Kaiser Health News, Florida’s exchange program is missing subsidies for low-income people to afford health insurance and requirements that insurance providers cover certain “essential health benefits.”

Five Republican presidential contenders took part in a National Right to Life Convention forum this morning in Jacksonville. Only two (Herman Cain and Rick Santorum) appeared in person, while the other three (Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and Tim Pawlenty) literally phoned it in — appearing at the panel via Skype.

It has been a big year for Indiana’s war against abortion. One of the state’s legally contentious laws that will soon take effect has gotten little attention so far. The law requires doctors administering an abortion to tell women that life begins at fertilization and that a fetus can feel pain at or before 20 weeks gestation.

After two weeks, Rep. Campbell still up in arms over Randolph’s supposed ‘bullying’

According to Charisma Magazine, Campbell was joined by two-dozen supporters outside the Orlando offices of Randolph on Tuesday, demanding a public apology. During a press conference at the demonstration, which was posted to YouTube, Campbell said that Randolph began bullying her shortly after she finished a speech in support of the ultrasound bill. “He come to me and he took all the books on the table and he flung them at my face…with a lot of ‘F’ words, several times…and he said ‘I swear! You could never be reelected! I swear! I’m going to get an opponent to replace you!’”
